SOPA and PIPA and YOU

It's amazing what's happening out there. Last time I bounced into my chair to look over the definition of some keywords on the internet I immediately thought about Wikipedia. The queen of knowledge in today's world. But today was different. I saw the following message:

Surely, I sent my voice over the internet and joined the crowds on Thursday to oppose SOPA and PIPA, but those words are still echoing in my head, "The sum of all human knowledge, [...] available to all humanity, in perpetuity."

Then it happened.

La Ley era una banda de rock Chilena formada a finales de la década de 1980 por iniciativa del tecladista y guitarrista Andrés Bobe Paraíso Perdido y su amigo, el tecladista Rodrigo Aboitiz Aparato Raro,iniciando asi un nuevo proyecto. La Ley se volvería muy popular en Latinoamerica con el lanzamiento de su álbum Doble Opuesto e Invisible. Si bien tiempo despues la banda se inclino mas por el rock alternativo y pop rock, dejando atras el New Wave. Tiempo despues Andres Bobe fallece en un accidente de motocicleta, dejando en duda la continuidad del grupo. Tras lo sucedido la banda supera la perdida del entonces cerebro del grupo y continuan su camino realizando obras musicales en tributo a el. El alto profesionalismo, la lirica en las letras de sus canciones, tematicas humanas y misticas, su perseverencia y por sobre todo su entrega y devocion por el publico, hacen de esta agrupacion un heterogeneo digno de ser admirado y valorado por las futuras generaciones, bandas de rock, musicos y compositores de toda America Latina y el mundo. La Ley se convertiria asi en una de las bandas mas grandes e importantes de la historia del rock en español.

Inicios (1987 - 1988)

La historia de La Ley comienza con Rodrigo Aboitiz, quien formaba parte de la banda Aparato Raro y Andrés Bobe, quien formó parte de las bandas Paraíso Perdido, La Banda del Pequeño Vicio y en la última etapa de Aparato Raro, donde conoce a Rodrigo Aboitiz y la vocalista Shia Arbulu (ex del grupo Nadie ).

En un principio, La Ley tenía la aspiración de ser un grupo de música techno, acercándose al estilo de Mecano, sentando su estilo en la nacionalidad española de su vocalista Lucía "Shia" Arbulu y teniendo como claras influencias del new wave británico, bandas como Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, The Cure y The Smiths.

Bobe y Aboitiz conocen Carlos Fonseca, productor musical de la escena chilena y encargado de hacer posibles las carreras de grupos como Los Prisioneros, la antigua agrupación de Aboitiz: Aparato Raro, y de Nadie, agrupación de los hermanos Arbulu y de donde egresó Lucia "Shía" Arbulu, quien ocupaba el rol de los teclados.

En 1988 consiguen grabar un EP cassete para EMI, titulado La Ley, contenía 6 temas, tres remixes y un instrumental, incluyendo 5 vinilos promocionales de 45', del cual solo uno tenía cover, el vinilo de "La luna".

Llegada de Alberto Cuevas (1988 - 1989)

Después de su primer trabajo como equipo (que no es incluido como trabajo oficial del grupo) sufren la primera transformación: Shia Arbulú deja el grupo para radicarse en España. Andrés Bobe siempre consideró que fue un error el que Shia haya dejado la banda^{[cita requerida]}.

Bobe convoca entonces a una serie de músicos para lo que sería la formación definitiva. El primero en acercarse fue Luciano Rojas, bajista de "Paraíso Perdido", y amigo de Andrés; después Mauricio Clavería, baterista de "Pancho Puelma y los Socios", e Iván Delgado, teclista, saxofonista y voz de "Paraíso Perdido". Comienzan a crear sus primeras composiciones y a ensayarlas, pero al notar la incapacidad creativa y vocal de Iván Delgado, deciden expulsarlo del grupo^{[cita requerida]}.

En este momento llega a Chile Luis Alberto "Beto" Cuevas, un joven chileno que había vivido en Venezuela y Canadá. A su llegada conoce a Mauricio Clavería, quien le invita a formar parte de La Ley, presentándolo a Bobe como "un primo"^{[cita requerida]}. Inicialmente Cuevas no parecía encajar al 100% con el grupo, especialmente Bobe, quien se caracterizaba por mostrar una actitud bastante fría. Aboitiz, sin embargo, decidió probarle: debía que aprenderse la letra del tema "Desiertos". Al ver que la voz y el estilo de Cuevas encajaba, Bobe, Aboitiz, Rojas y Clavería optaron por ingresarlo a la banda^{[cita requerida]}.

"Bueno, por lo menos cuando nosotros hacíamos música y no teníamos cantante, sabíamos que el grupo tenía que ser con un cantante y en el momento en que llegó Beto, allí nace La Ley, porque antes de Beto, hubo un proyecto, hubieron [sic] muchas cosas, pero realmente La Ley nace cuando llega Beto y empezamos a trabajar juntos y es ahí el comienzo"^{[cita requerida]}.

Andrés Bobe

El grupo comienza a abrirse paso en pequeños escenarios; son contratados en el Café del Cerro y poco tiempo después, debutan en la "Casa Constitución".

Desiertos, la separación de Fusión Producciones y la salida de Rodrigo Aboitiz (1989 - 1991)

En 1990, publican de manera independiente su placa titulada Desiertos, la cual contó como productores a Rodrigo Aboitiz y Andrés Bobe.

Por ser un grupo nuevo, La Ley necesitaba del apoyo de un manager, pero Fonseca se encargaba de la representación del grupo más fuerte de EMI, Los Prisioneros. Su colaborador, Alejandro Sanfuentes, les recomendó entonces que se independizaran de la mano de Fonseca. El resultado fue el retiro de las tiendas del disco Desiertos, del que solo se vendieron 500 copias^{[cita requerida]}, convirtiéndolo en un artículo de culto entre los admiradores de la banda. EMI no quería prescindir de las grabaciones realizadas, pero argumentando derechos de autor La Ley logra conseguir la cinta máster de la grabación. El grupo se aventura a tocar en pequeños lugares en las localidades vecinas de la ciudad de Santiago (Chile), en una van.

La Ley decide enviar la cinta master de Desiertos a Argentina para elaborar 2000 copias en vinilo, con la intención distribuirlos en cada presentación y así tener una fuente segura de ingresos. Con éstos realizan el video clip de la canción que da título al disco, con localizaciones en el río Mapocho y el Café del Cerro, lugar donde tocaban cada semana con el apoyo de el cineasta Gustavo Fiorenza.

"Alejandro (Sanfuentes), era colaborador de Carlos Fonseca, nuestro entonces productor y manager, era el año de 1989, y se encontraba trabajando con Los Prisioneros, Sanfuentes nos dijo: ¿Por qué no se liberan de Carlos y trabajan conmigo?, el resultado de nuestra decisión fue el retiro de las tiendas de nuestro primer trabajo, pero conseguimos quitarle a Fonseca aquella grabación, al fin y al cabo nosotros teníamos registrados los derechos de autor, la cinta la enviamos a Argentina para elaborar un buen número de copias de aquel sencillo, para dar batalla y tener una fuente segura de ingresos, asi mismo conseguimos dar a conocer la propuesta del grupo y a nosotros como agrupación.^{[cita requerida]}

Beto Cuevas

En 1991 muere la madre de Aboitiz, quien decide dejar el grupo argumentando que su fallecimiento le impedía tener la mente clara y abierta a nuevas ideas, planteando además que la banda se había convertido en un lastre que no quería cargar^{[cita requerida]}. Bobe decide entonces comprar un secuenciador Roland Workstation, para apoyarse y secuenciar las secciones que correspondían a Aboitiz en las canciones.

Firma con PolyGram (1991 - 1993)

Antes de la salida de Aboitiz, un productor estadounidense que estaba en Chile escuchó a La Ley y les ofreció ayudarles a grabar un disco bajo Island Records. El grupo grabó los demos, en su mayoría en inglés, los cuales son "Angry Lovers", "When She Was Going Away", "Jesus", "Love & Faith", "My Destination" (cuyos temas no fueron grabados hasta el año 2000 en español bajo el título de "Amor y Fé" y "Paraíso" respectivamente, incluidos en el disco Uno), "Just Another Dreamer" (tema que más tarde sería "Surazul" en el disco Libertad), "Under My Thumb" (demo cover de The Rolling Stones), "Girlfriend In a Coma" (cover de The Smiths), "Holyness", "Silhouette" y "Heaven" (cuyos temas no fueron grabados hasta el año 2010 respectivamente, incluidos en el disco póstumo de Andrés Bobe AB). Sin embargo este proyecto nunca se concretó, quedando solo los demos como prueba.

Transformado en un cuarteto, La Ley se presenta con las canciones "Angie" y "Under my thumb" en un programa de televisión que buscaba nuevos talentos para hacer covers de los Rolling Stones. Rolando Ramos, un locutor de la radio chilena, tomó el demo de estas canciones y lo hizo público, llamando la atención de la discográfica PolyGram, quienes ofrecen al grupo un contrato por tres discos. En 1991 La Ley graba su primer material oficial, el disco Doble opuesto, producido por Mario Breuer.

En el otoño de 1992 La Ley comienza a grabar en Argentina y Chile, también bajo la dirección de Mario Breuer su siguiente álbum, titulado con el mismo nombre de la banda: La Ley. El disco sale en febrero de 1993, vendiendo 15.000 copias el primer día^{[cita requerida]}. El video de la canción "Tejedores de ilusión" es nominado a los premios MTV como mejor vídeo latino.

Ante el éxito de La Ley, los organizadores del Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar invitan por vez primera a La Ley. Durante su presentación, en febrero de 1993, se les entrega del Disco de oro por las ventas registradas de su segundo trabajo, La Ley y el Disco de platino por las ventas de Doble Opuesto.

Es en este momento cuando el grupo tiene su primer contacto con México: su primera presentación fue en el teatro Angela Peralta de Ciudad de México; después partieron a Monterrey, haciendo presentaciones radiales en la ciudad de Cuernavaca Morelos, y presentándose en el teatro Roxy de Los Ángeles.

La muerte de Andrés Bobe (1994)

Luego de su presentación en el Festival de Viña, La Ley es contratada por Canal 13 para componer e interpretar la música de los títulos de la teleserie Champaña. Esta canción, titulada "En La Ciudad", resulta ser un hit, que rápidamente alcanza rotación frecuente en las radios. Para aprovechar este impulso, a principios de 1994 el grupo graba junto a Humberto Gatica un maxi single llamado Cara de dios compuesto por cuatro temas, incluyendo "En La Ciudad". Este disco resulta ser un éxito de ventas^{[cita requerida]} y reciben una invitación al Festival Internacional de Viña del Mar de febrero de 1994. Además son invitados al Festival de Acapulco para el mes de mayo.

En esta época, Andrés Bobe mantiene conversaciones con Rodrigo Aboitiz, para regresar a los teclados. Sin embargo, en la madrugada del 10 de abril de 1994, Bobe sufre un accidente mientras volvía a su casa. Después de haber tocado en un concierto a beneficio de la hija de Héctor Robles, jugador del equipo de fútbol Club Deportivo Palestino y en la intersección de las calles Monseñor Edwards con Ortega y Gasset, en la comuna de la Reina, Andrés Bobe pierde el control de su moto, recibiendo un golpe en la cabeza que le causó la muerte en pocos minutos^{[cita requerida]}.

Después de la muerte de Andrés Bobe surgen varios problemas en la banda, tanto con la compañía discográfica como con los familiares de Bobe, por la propiedad del nombre del grupo. Parte de la prensa chilena cubrió el hecho con morbo, sin consideración por los sentimientos de los amigos y la familia del fallecido^{[cita requerida]}: el grupo respondería posteriormente con la canción "Cielo Market". Durante esta temporada de crisis los medios comenzaron a especular acerca del futuro de la agrupación, afirmando que La Ley dejaría de existir, dado que el "cerebro" del grupo había fallecido.

Andrés Bobe fue un destacado músico de la escena underground de fines de los ochentas en Chile. Se le rindieron distintos homenajes y el más recordado fue en el Estadio Nacional, donde jugaron los equipos de la Universidad de Chile y de Colo-Colo, Andrés Bobe era seguidor de la Universidad de Chile, equipo que ganó 4-0. Además, durante el concierto que ofreció Depeche Mode en abril de ese año, supieron de la muerte de Bobe e hicieron un minuto de silencio en memoria de él. La muerte de Andrés Bobe truncó la sesión "Unplugged" para MTV: La Ley iba a ser el primer grupo latinoamericano en grabar una sesión desenchufada para MTV Latinoamérica. Andrés Bobe además había sido contratado por el grupo Lucybell para producir su primer disco, trabajo que finalmente estuvo a cargo de Mario Breuer.

La Ley protagonizó uno de los 10 spot comerciales y campaña de publicidad más importantes de esa década en Chile para la marca Pepsi, dirigido por uno de los cineastas y directores de publicidad mas importantes de Chile, Ricardo Larraín, a quien La Ley le cantó en forma de regalo de cumpleaños "Tejedores de Ilusión" en medio de la filmación hecha en el Parque O'Higgins. En esa oportunidad debido a la reciente y lamentable muerte de Andrés Bobe, Pedro Frugone quien era el nuevo guitarrista de La Ley, no fue visto en el spot comercial en televisión por respeto a la familia de Andrés Bobe quien se encontraba debatiendo los derechos de propiedad intelectual de La Ley, el equipo de filmación realizó sólo primeros planos de las manos de Frugone en la guitarra, o planos generales donde no se distinguía quien era el guitarrista. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWAC0SaSsjE&feature=related

Invisible: El regreso de Aboitiz y la inclusión de Pedro Frugone (1995 - 1997)

Pedro Frugone, ex guitarrista de Viena y Anachena, que había sido músico de apoyo de La Ley en algunas ocasiones, es invitado oficialmente a formar parte del grupo. Con él La Ley se presenta en el Festival de Acapulco en mayo de 1994. Sin embargo Frugone tuvo problemas para formar parte oficialmente como guitarra líder del grupo: había firmado un contrato de exclusividad como integrante del grupo Anachena, perteneciente a BMG Ariola Chile. Al enterarse BMG de que Frugone estaba grabando un álbum para otra banda y disquera, le reclamó incumplimiento de contrato. Warner debió pagar una cantidad para liberarle de sus obligaciones con Anachena^{[cita requerida]}.

Este mismo año Aboitiz regresa a ocupar los teclados.

Bajo la producción de Humberto Gatica y bajo la discográfica Warner Music México, una vez terminado el contrato con PolyGram, la Ley comienza a grabar el disco Invisible. Frugone abandonó la grabación por problemas y diferencias con Gatica, de forma que su presentación oficial como miembro del grupo no se realiza hasta diciembre. En enero La Ley comienza una gira por diferentes ciudades de Chile, presentando las nuevas canciones. En febrero de 1995 se presentan nuevamente en el Festival de Viña, además de ofrecer un concierto gratuito en la Avenida Perú de la ciudad de Viña del Mar bajo el auspicio de Pepsi.

Invisible salió al a venta en julio de 1995, contando con publicidad y lanzamientos en varios países de Latinoamérica y en el mercado latino de Estados Unidos^{[cita requerida]}. Esta placa logró darles fama internacional, definiendo el futuro estilo de La Ley y colocando cinco singles en la radio: "El duelo", "Día Cero", "Cielo Market", "Hombre" y "1-800 dual". El éxito de este álbum superó en ventas al disco Sueño Stereo de los argentinos Soda Stereo, que se había lanzado en las mismas fechas^{[cita requerida]}.

Durante 1995 La Ley anunció su mudanza a México: esta situación que causó polémica en los medios de comunicación y artístico de Chile. Algunos artistas que se consideraban nacionalistas criticaron el hecho que La Ley dejara el país para buscar éxito internacional^{[cita requerida]}.

En 1996 son invitados a participar junto con otras bandas del medio rockero latinoamericano en el compilado Silencio = Muerte: RED HOT+LATIN, a beneficio de las víctimas y la lucha contra el SIDA. Participan con la canción "You Come and Go", de la autoría de Bobe, Aboitiz y Cuevas.

La gira de Invisible duró cerca de dos años sin parar, logrando llenar dos noches el Auditorio Nacional de México.

Vértigo y los cambios en la formación (1997 - 1999)

Tras el éxito de Invisible, Warner ofreció al grupo un presupuesto elevado para grabar su próximo material. La Ley se dirigió a Cuernavaca México para grabar sus demos. El próximo álbum tendría un giro radical en cuanto a sonido se refiere, de forma que inicialmente se había planeado grabarlo en estudios británicos, pero a último momento se eligieron estudios neoyorquinos, los estudios Chung King, House of Metal.

Tras la elaboración de este nuevo proyecto, Rodrigo Aboitiz vuelve a abandonar al grupo. Las versiones sobre su deserción son muchas: el nacimiento de su hijo o su vicio por las drogas, provocado por la extensa gira que conllevó la promoción de Invisible. Cuevas entonces le expulsó del grupo, argumentando que Aboitiz era una persona bastante obsesiva^{[cita requerida]}. Aunque Aboitiz acudió a rehabilitación en México, Cuevas le impidió el retorno, provocando la molestia de Rojas y Frugone.

Aunque se había anunciado la salida del nuevo disco para septiembre de 1997, surgieron inconvenientes que imposibilitaron su edición a tiempo^{[cita requerida]}. Al preguntarle a Beto Cuevas sobre el título del nuevo trabajo, él se limitaba a decir que "iba a ser representado por un vortex"^{[cita requerida]}.

En diciembre de 1997 se edita el EP, Fotofobia y en febrero de 1998, con una gran campaña de publicidad, es editado el disco Vértigo, un álbum con toques electrónicos y dance. Este trabajo no tuvo buena recepción en la crítica especializada^{[cita requerida]} y muchos de sus seguidores han llegado a considerar este como el peor trabajo de La Ley, a lo que debe añadirse el rechazo del público chileno por su decisión de radicarse en México. Fotofobia llegó a considerarse como la peor canción del año en Chile^{[cita requerida]}. Sin embargo, Vértigo" es un trabajo en el que La Ley pone a prueba su lado experimental, incursionando en el terreno del acid house, como se puede apreciar en su tema "Opacidad".

Las diferencias entre Rojas y Cuevas se hicieron más notorias, llegando al máximo cuando Rojas abandonó el grupo horas antes de la presentación en el Festival Iberoamericano de Música "Vive Latino". Después de su salida de La Ley, Rojas y Aboitiz tuvieron una reunión para un nuevo proyecto: el grupo "Saiko", donde también se encontraba Iván Delgado, co-fundador de La Ley y una nueva integrante, Denisse Malebrán.

Uno, MTV Unplugged y Libertad'' (2000 - 2003)

En 1999 La Ley graba el disco Uno, que se edita en marzo de 2000. De este álbum salen cinco singles y tres vídeos: "Aquí", "Fuera de Mí", "Eternidad", "Verano Espacial" y "Paraíso". Este álbum llevó al grupo a un gran nivel internacional de popularidad, teniendo numerosos reconocimientos como el Grammy Latino.

Al año siguiente fueron invitados por la cadena MTV a realizar una sesión acústica llamada La Ley MTV Unplugged. Este álbum recibe Discos de Oro y Platino en todo el continente americano, además de conseguir tres nominaciones al Grammy Latino, llevándose el galardón de "Mejor Álbum Vocal por un Grupo de Rock", dos MTV Awards Latin America: "Mejor Artista Rock" y "Mejor Grupo del Año", varias nominaciones a los Premios Billboard Latin y un galardón ASCAP para Beto Cuevas, como compositor por "Mentira".

Los sentimientos del grupo ante el atentado a las Torres Gemelas del 11 de septiembre y la invasión estadounidense de Afganistán dieron origen a la grabación del álbum Libertad, producido por Humberto Gatica y KC Porter^{[cita requerida]}. Para este trabajo se eligieron los temas "Amate y Sálvate", "Más Allá" (inspirada en una fanática que se suicidó al no cumplirse su sueño de conocer en persona a Beto Cuevas^{[cita requerida]}); y "Mi Ley".

Historias e Histeria y separación (2004 - 2005)

Al año siguiente y lanzan su recopilatorio Historias e histeria con todos sus éxitos, celebrando 15 años de carrera y de sus primeras grabaciones. En ese momento se anuncia la disolución de La Ley. Aunque se han mencionado varias razones para la separación, las verdaderas razones se desconocen.

En el 2005 La Ley fue invitada a tocar en el Festival de Viña del Mar; durante la presentación Luciano Rojas y Rodrigo Aboitiz se presentan sorpresivamente en el escenario, haciendo una antología de las primeras canciones del grupo, con la canción "Desiertos". El grupo ganó los premios del público a los artistas, las Gaviotas de oro y plata. Esa noche la última canción fue "Tejedores de ilusión", haciendo una remembranza a su desaparecido fundador Andrés Bobe. Después de haber terminado su gira de despedida, anunciaron que el grupo se retiraría, pero dejaron abierta la posibilidad de volver a reunirse como un quinteto; en dicho lugar se limaron las asperezas de años pasados.

Luego de la disolución cada integrante emprendió proyectos independientes: Beto Cuevas trabajó como actor en algunas películas^{[cita requerida]} y ya lanzó su disco solista. Pedro Frugone también lanzó su disco solista en donde incursiona como cantante^{[cita requerida]}. Mauricio Claveria formó en México al grupo indie Los Concorde, junto a Jonás de Plastilina Mosh, Poncho (bajista de La Lupita) y Leonardo de Lozanne (vocalista del grupo de rock mexicano Fobia). Rodrigo Aboitiz e Ignacio Redard (compositor, letrista y vocalista), forman The Plugin es una banda de synthpop.

Curiosidades

• Cuando el padre de Beto le preguntaba a su hijo que quería ser cuando grande, el pequeño le respondía: ‘cualquier cosa, menos cantante’.
• La primera experiencia de Beto con el canto fue en el coro del colegio. El director lo sacó rápidamente del grupo por cantar desafinado, cosa que Beto hacia para molestar a sus compañeros y profesor.
• Mauricio Clavería aprendió a tocar batería por accidente. La batería de la casa pertenecía a su hermano mayor y cuando este lo dejaba de tocar, el pequeño Mauricio se instalaba a escondidas a practicar de curioso.
• Para audicionar a la banda, Beto Cuevas debió aprenderse el tema 'Desiertos' en una semana.
• El tema Angie en las radios chilenas alcanzó a superar en pedidos al hit de Michael Jackson, Black Or White.

¿Estas listo(a) para recivir el secreto mas importante del año, y muy posiblemente de tu vida con respecto a?

dinero. Todo mundo se queja por el dinero. Por el dinero se divorcian parejas de casados, se destruyen familias, se van los trabajos, se cambia el panorama economico de nuestra comunidad. Pero no tiene por que ser asi. Hay una cosa que quiza no te han dicho, pero aqui esta. El secreto mas grande para poder obtener dinero. De todas tus metas esta es la que menos tiempo, estress y esfuerzo te deberia llevar.

Bueno, sin mas preambulos:

El secreto radica en que las personas pobres piensan diferente respecto al dinero de lo que lo hacen aquellas que han alcanzado la independencia con este. El dinero es una herramienta, no es amigo de nadie, ta como una licuadora te puede ayudar a preparar alimentos en el hogar pero si le metes la mano recives un pinchazo y te puedes hacer daño.

Empieza a pensar diferente acerca del dinero. Lo que te queda libre despues de recivir el cheque y pagar todas tus deudas del mes, ese poco dinero que ahora te quedo, eso es lo que ganaste. Cuanto ganaste en este mes de diciembre? Yo por ejemplo gane apenas 26 dolares. Pero puede cambiar a medida que adquieres conocimiento y sigues un sistema de vida distinto.

La gente piensa que la diferencia entre los ricos y los pobres esta en las inecualidades, injusticias, profesiones, discriminacion, y porque son amigos del gobierno, o porque viven a costillas del pueblo. Pero lo cierto es que los ricos entienden como funciona el dinero y como utilizarlo. El dinero que te queda es el capital que tienes. El capital es una semilla. Si lo plantaras hoy crecera hasta convertise en un arbol, solo requiere dedicacion y que pongas a trabajar lo mejor de ti.

Que es lo mejor de ti? No es tu fisico, no las horas de trabajo que intercambias por dinero cada semana o quincena. Lo mejor de ti son las ideas. En esta era de la informacion, que por cierto ya tiene unos años de haberse establecido, eres tu quien tiene al alcance de tus manos todo lo necesario para poder sobresalir y mas. Puedes iniciar tu propia fuente de dinero por internet, invertir, buscar trabajo, iniciar projectos, etcetera. Solo necesitas llevar a cabo esas ideas. Exploralas, explotalas, que de esos pensamientos salgan semillas y de esas semillas arboles que den fruto en riquezas.

Sabes lo que piensan los ricos del dinero? Para ellos el dinero en si los billetes no son mas que papeles impresos con la cara de un presidente muerto o un logo grafico aburrido. Pero cuando ellos empiezan a ver en terminos matematicos como va creciendo y amazandose esa cantidad que tienen invertida, ahi es cuando entra el verdadero espiritu inversionista.

Trabaja en lo que mas te guste. Ahi entramos en el mito de que porque 'fulanito tiene profesion, por eso tiene dinero'. No es cierto! Es una completa mentira! Falso!
Lo que tu pongas de esfuerzo ahora tendra repercusiones a futuro. Es cierto que una carrera incrementa tu salario, pero si con ello tambien incrementan tus gastos y deudas, de que modo te diferencia eso de la rata de tienda que trabaja 16 horas diarias acomodando productos en los anaqueles? No desperdicies tu tiempo. Valoralo al invertir una porcion ahorita sabiendo que a futuro se puede incrementar de gran manera. Invierte hoy 10% de lo que ganas y en pocos años tendras suficiente como para dejar de trabajar por necesidad o estar sujeto a un trabajo que no te agrada.

Behind the scenes, walking away from credit card debt

Don't walk away from your credit card debt! That is what millions of people are told, and for good reason. If you say bye bye to your obligations you can incur into big trouble, which I'll explain in a little bit. But first, let's take a look at what happens behind the scenes, when consumers decide to just stop paying their debt.

Credit card debt collection a huge, multi billion dollar enterprise. Just in 2005 businesses made over $66 billion (with the B) collecting on delinquent accounts from 8 million users. It is not unknown that the average debt holder gets repeated phone calls, letters in the mail, lawsuits, wage garnishments, property seizure, debt collectors knocking at the door, and even arrests as a result of not paying on time, and walking away from their payment obligations.

Now let's put it in perspective, debt collectors and debt buyers pay only fractions of the real amount users owe and use different methods to reclaim their share. Some of the largest debt buyers purchase vast portfolios of credit card debt, then divide that debt into small chunks for resale. Then, the companies that buy this credit card debt make the first attempt to collect the money, then re-sell uncollected amounts to others further down the collection food chain.

Because credit card debt is sold and re-sold over and over, ultimately companies that acquire the right to collect the last bits know little about the debtor, only the name, last known address, card issuer and account number, and amount due. To make matters worse, the large banks that sell off debt sell it as-is, nothing more is given.

For the businesses involved in debt collecting is tight, very restrained situation. It is highly speculative and debt buyers can potentially lose some of the money, or all of their money very quickly. But there are more methods.

Debt buyers can buy additional documentation for a fee from the banks, attempt to find consumers and sue them. Is not uncommon to target the wrong individuals due to change of address, phone numbers, and even names.

Then there are state and federal regulations that protect customers from debt sharks and their predatory practices. What would you do if you get sued and don't know anything about the court system?

A lot of the problems with this arise with you as a customer by changing address and not updating it, repaying debt and not asking for a Paid-in-Full notification in written for your records, and by not communicating with the bank or lender when a problem arises. In some states debt collectors who win court judgments are required to inform the court when a judgment is paid, however many do not. It is for your own good to contact them and make sure they do call or send in written when you have paid off.

Regulators, policy makers, and legislators who could intervene to right the balance between collectors and consumers are either unaware of the debt collection problems, the tens of millions on Americans caught up in them, or are simply unwilling to act. The Federal Trade Commission, responsible for enforcing a federal law that regulates the behavior of debt collectors, has done little despite a surge in consumer dissatisfaction. From 1998 to 2005, the number of consumer complaints regarding debt collectors, no surprise here, surged tenfold to 66,627 from 6,678. But in the last six years, the FTC has taken enforcement action against only 10 corporations.

Creditors have the legal right to collect what is you owe, and it is your responsibility as a consumer to pay what you owe. And yes, you have a right to dispute fees and interest in that debt. Sometimes due to carelessness, unfounded optimism or extreme need, whatever the scenario, you can get into debt beyond your means. Other causes for unbearable debt are life obstacles such as a family member's death, a divorce, illness, or job loss. That is why it is important for credit card users to keep up-to-date with their monthly payments in good times and avoiding unnecessary spending on their credit cards.
